XCHANGE · OPEN SCIENCE

From diffraction
to discovery.

Experimental evidence deserves a shared home. Xchange brings measured patterns, crystal structures and human review together, so the next discovery has a clearer starting point.

01 / THE PROJECT

Good data should
travel further.

Xchange means exchange: connecting individual measurements to a community of researchers.

A pattern alone rarely tells the whole story. The instrument, radiation source, sample description, structural assignment and reviewer’s judgment all matter. We keep these pieces together in one portable experiment record.

The collection supports experimental powder X-ray diffraction research, teaching and careful reuse. It makes uncertainty visible and keeps a path back to the original evidence.

01

Patterns with context

Keep measured diffraction data, CIF structures, metadata and notes together. Inspect the curve and calculated Bragg positions in one place.

02

Review you can follow

Approved, pending and not-approved records stay distinct. Review feedback helps contributors make specific corrections and resubmit.

03

A starting point for identification

XMatcher proposes structural candidates for single-phase patterns using a local Materials Project library. Results still require human verification.

02 / HOW IT WORKS

An experiment.
A clearer record.

Read the user manual ↗
  1. 01

    Upload and inspect

Sign in, select a measured pattern and check its preview. Attach a CIF for each known phase, or request single-phase identification.

  2. 02

    Describe the experiment

Record the sample, radiation and wavelength, date, contributor, source and reuse license.

  3. 03

    Review and refine

New submissions await review. Contributors can respond to feedback, correct files or metadata, and resubmit.

  4. 04

    Explore and reuse

Browse openly, inspect review status and cite original sources. File downloads require separate account approval and applicable license checks.

03 / START WITH THE DETAILS

A shared standard.
A better starting point.

04 / LET’S CONNECT

Built through exchange.
